Travelled down on the Friday night and camped at Cruachan Farm Caravan and Camping Park, nice little site but midges out in full force!

Up early and was only the third car at the limited Invervar car park. Nice sunny walk up to the first Munro, Càrn Gorm, which doesn't seem that impressive until you complete the route and see it from the east.

We had an early lunch at the top where we met some walkers from the Highland Walkers group, most well into the 200 club. Over the course of the day we kept leap frogging each other, however nice to have such pleasant company on the hills.

After Càrn Gorm, we took a very slight detour to take in the top, An Sgòrr, this is such a small extra, it would be crazy to leave it for another day!

The trek over to Meall Garbh (Càrn Mairg), was pretty easy, the cairn, a mixture of boulders and old fence posts is quite impressive modern art. We got some pictures and headed off for the next Munro, Càrn Mairg via the top, Meall a' Bharr

This was probably the longest leg, with only a smallish descent and ascent. Don't miss out on the unnamed mound marked at 1001m before you head south east off the plateau towards Càrn Mairg, it looks like someone dumped a huge amount of large boulders, and gives you a great view of Schiehallion.

At the cairn, note that it is not on the impressive looking crag, instead it is just north-east from it, we saw several others make the same mistake as us! Coming down off Càrn Mairg there is a larger boulder field to negotiate, but if you keep towards the stone wall, the going is easier.

At this point the weather started to turn for the worse, at the bottom of Meal Liath we heard a few rumbles of thunder and on the way up, it turned into wet hail. Full waterproofs out and unfortunately they stayed on until the end!

We didn't muck around, finished the top and powered up the last Munro of the day, Creag Mhòr (Meall na Aighean), Ailidh taking the lead and not stopping until the top.

If you are in a hurry, be careful with navigating off the top, there is a wide eroded path that leads to the unnamed summit at 974m, but there is a branch heading north-west, which we missed! We ended up at the top then taking a well-worn path that spirals west, north then east back onto the correct path. The path down was wet, muddy and very slippy in places, but some great views back to the start of the route.
