Summits (M) Tolmount (M) Tom Buidhe

We used the car park beside Auchallater Farm, then made our start along Jocks Road, which played a pivotal part in the story of Scottish Access Rights, to the bothy at the edge of Loch Callater.

More information on Jock's road can be found here.

From there we followed the route along the eastern side of the loch. Once past the loch the path became boggy in places and continued until near the base of Tolmount itself.

We stopped just below the bealach for our lunch, before completing the short windy ascent to the summit of Tolmount.

Views were excellent, with our next summit, Tom Buidhe easily spotted to the south, which took only 40 minutes to reach, over some boggy and snowy sections.

We didn't hang around for long due to the wind, and quickly returned over Tolmount to the bealach for a brief respite. The return walk felt never ending, but the views and good company kept our spirits up despite our protesting feet.

Only Mayar and Driesh left to complete the Glen Shee to Glen Esk Munros!
