Overnight stay in a Glamping pod at Glenacoil near Dunkeld, nice little site with great facilities. We headed off early, but missed the turning to Aberfeldy and ended up going via Creiff, which due to the misty morning was at least a half hour detour!!!
We parked at base of the Loch an Daimh dam, and tacklked Stuchd an Lochain first. This was a steep climb mostly following a stream bed up to the ridge, from which we walked across Stuchd an Lochain to reach the summit of Stuchd an Lochain. Some patches of snow to cross, especially on the last push to the summit, but already some had been up so there was nice footprint steps.
Views from the top were spectacular today, not sure my poor photography does them justice.
We returned by following the old fence to ensure we took in the Munro Top Sron Chona Choirein, then back via the original steep decent path to the car where we had the remains of our lunch.
After dicussing heading home at this point, we saw sense and decided we would tackle Meall Buidhe as well; never good returning to the car mid walk!
The climb up to ridge was pretty gentle, but tough on our tired legs, made worse by having to trapse through a couple of peat bogs, total mud fest at times.
It was very windy on the ridge, and was the first time today we needed our shell jackets, however a straighforward mostly flat 1k walk over to the summit to reach our last cairn of the day.
On our way down we used the alternative path from Coire nam Miseach, which let us bypass one of the muddy sections, which was a bonus.
Lots of people out on these routes today, especially Stuchd an Lochain, nice to chat with fellow walkers, but it is nice when you have the hills to yourself as well.
